Christmas updates, and finally a British Motor Show!

Posted by Bob on Tuesday 9th December 2014

Ho ho ho!Hello folks! Hope you're all doing well and are ready for the incoming booze and calorie overdoses soon to overwhelm us over the festive period. As I've had some downtime recently, I've been able to finalise some updates to the site's car valuation algorithm that I've been wanting to get finished for a while. Things are now up and running well, so feel free to try it out at your will. What are these changes you ask? Sorry, that is proprietry information, but I can say that they include certain points and car/model features that the used car industry is looking at more and more in the current climate and generation of vehicles. In other words, small things can have a big effect!

Good news from last week - Britain will be getting it's own proper Motor Show again! It was unveiled at the Guild of Motoring Writers award meeting (no award for me!) last Thursday, by none other than HRH Prince Michael of Kent (the one I always think is a Princess). Named the London Motor Show 2016, the last time it was held was back in 2008; my, how things have changed since then, technologically, financially, and indeed socially! I will be of course attempting to snag myself a ticket, as it sounds like they are trying for a grand comeback extravaganza.

Instead of being tied down to one exhibition centre, plans are to hold separate events at the many parks of London, with Battersea Park looking to be the centre stage. Despite the announcement, little in the way of details have been released, but a date of early May 2016 was mentioned, as were plans for features on classic cars, green technology and driving innovations that the UK has given birth to.

Whilst previous London Motor Shows were organised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), they are not involved in any official capacity in this forthcoming event. Past events saw low visitor numbers and lack of commitment from major manufacturers. Let's hope they pull out all the stops in 2016, considering how well the automotive marketplace is doing at the moment. But I suppose, lets see what 2015 throws at us first!
